The Family Medical Leave Act in the Time of COVID-19

Join Joan Hill and Guillermo Perez of the USW Membership & Education Department as they examine how USW members can make use of the federal Family Medical Leave Act to safeguard their jobs and health benefits should they need to take medical leave for themselves or a family member during the coronavirus pandemic. This webinar is a follow-up to an earlier webinar on the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), which dealt with recently enacted federal emergency leave that unfortunately failed to cover many thousands of our members.

From the pandemic frontlines: Thank God for our union

"If you don't have a union right now, it's a very scary time if you work in healthcare," says Mindy Sholler of USW Local 158 in Kittanning, Pa. The local represents 375 nurse aides, environmental services, dietary, phlebotomy, and many other frontline hospital employees, including maintenance. Watch as Mindy explains how the union has been fighting for proper PPE and working around the clock to make sure everyone is safe as they work through this pandemic. #Service+Solidarity #1u #USWProud
