Election 2016: Members Speak Out

Mark Casto
Local 759L

Mark Casto, 50, of Corinth, Miss.,  has been a member of USW Local 759L for a quarter centry. He has served as its president for the past five. He works for Mississippi Polymers Inc.

“This election is important to me because of trade. We are losing business every day. Our suppliers tell us that even if we worked for free, we couldn’t beat the price of our competitors in foreign countries. We had 400 people. Now we are down to 136 because of unfair competition. We had five laminators on two shifts.  Now we have one on one shift. We used to have four printing machines. Now we have one. We used to have five calendars. Now we have three.

“The TPP is a bad deal for America and Hillary Clinton now opposes it. She has shown in the past that she will go with labor unions. I will support the candidate who supports us.

“Donald Trump is selling a scam. Tell me one of his own products that he makes in the United States or that he has brought back to make in the United States since he became a candidate. He has even applied for visas to bring in foreign workers to work at his Florida resort. He is not for the American worker or for American made products.”
