USW Cares: Steelworkers Partner with Jefferson Award Foundation

The United Steelworkers recently partnered with the Jefferson Awards Foundation which is the country's longest standing and most prestigious organization dedicated to activating and celebrating public service.

360Through training programs the organization  helps to empower individuals to serve and lead in their communities and increase their impact through a network of media partners, mentors and volunteers.

The Steelworkers are proud to promote the Foundation’s LEAD360 Challenge which helps to train today’s youth to be leaders, problems solvers, entrepreneurs and impactful global citizens.

The Lead360 program challenges people to assist in changing the face of:  Hunger and Poverty, Health and Wellness and Education and Literacy through donations necessary to improving these conditions

Earlier this year, 10-year old Kadence Simko, daughter of Mark Simko from United Steelworkers Local Union 1219, was presented with a Jefferson Award medallion for her work in helping to collect and provide bikes, scooters and skateboards to children in the Braddock community in an attempt to improve the youths’ health and wellness. Projects like this are being done by so many USW members who regularly give back to our communities. If you or your local are working to better your community, we want to hear about your involvement. Let us know and share video and photos at www.usw.org/uswcares and use both the #USWCares hashtag and our handle, @Steelworkers, when you post your stories on social media.
