Steelworkers, UAW, Building Trades, IUE and Others to Announce Support for Local Primary Candidates

Warren, Ohio – The United Steelworkers (USW) today said that union officials and representatives from the United Autoworkers (UAW), the Western Reserve Building and Construction Trades Council, the IUE and others to announce their support for three local candidates in primary elections May 6, 2014.

  • Mahoning County Commissioner Carol Rimedio-Righetti will receive the unions’ endorsements for re-election.
  • Trumbull County Commissioner Frank Fuda will also receive the unions’ endorsements for re-election
  • Finally, the unions will endorse former Warren Mayor Mike O’Brien to represent the 64th District in the Ohio House, replacing Tom Letson, who will be leaving his seat due to term limits.

The unions will make their official endorsements during a 10 a.m. news conference at Veterans’ Memorial Park in Warren on Thurs., March 27.

The USW represents 850,000 men and women employed in metals, mining, pulp and paper, rubber, chemicals, glass, auto supply and the energy-producing industries, along with a growing number of workers in public sector and service occupations.
