USW Cares: 2017 Jefferson Award Winners

In 2015, the USW partnered with the Jefferson Awards Foundation (JAF) to celebrate Steelworkers who do amazing works of community service and show the world that Steelworkers have big hearts.

Winners for this year’s Jefferson Awards have been chosen from every district, SOAR (which actually has two winners who tied in scoring), and USW staff.  The selection process is detailed here and the winners are as follows:

Among those 16 winners is the USW Champion Volunteer, Nancy McCurrach of District 3, who is in the running to win the National Jefferson Award for Outstanding Service by an Employee.

In the months leading up the USW Jefferson Award ceremony in December, the USW will individually highlight all winners’ stories of charity and good works on web and social media platforms.

The United Steelworkers is proud to have generous and selfless members who foster a culture of giving-back in our Union.

Don’t forget to nominate members who are active in their communities for a USW Jefferson Award and encourage your brothers and sisters to do the same! The USW Jefferson Awards nomination form is now open for 2018 submissions.

UPDATE: Nancy McCurrach of District 3 won the National Jefferson Award for Employee Volunteer.
