District 9 Awards 2017 Homer Wilson Scholarships

The Homer Wilson Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce the 2017 scholarship winners – Carolyn Barrett Guess from Augusta, Georgia and Madison Leigh McCullough from Phenix City, Alabama.

Below is information about the winners.

Carolyn

Carolyn Barrett Guess will be attending the University of South Carolina Columbia and major in Early Childhood Education and Special Needs.  

“My passion is to help children with special needs and give them all the opportunities as a general education student” stated Carolyn. “I hope to live out this passion in my everyday life.” Carolyn is the daughter of Robert Guess, Jr. from Local 1803, International Paper, in Augusta, Georgia.

Madison

Madison Leigh McCullough is an 18 year old senior at Eufaula High School. She is involved with many organizations within her high school and volunteers with the Eufaula Service League, Relay for Life, and Eufaula Pilgrimage. McCullough will attend Troy University and major in Biomedical Sciences. She plans on continuing her education at Auburn University, studying to become a pharmacist. Madison is the daughter of Bonnie and Brian McCullough of Phenix City, Alabama. Brian is a member of Local 1972, Westrock in Phenix City, Alabama.

“We appreciate our member’s support of the Homer Wilson Scholarship to further the education of its recipients” stated District 9 Director Daniel Flippo. “We wish all the best in your future endeavors.”
