USW Cares: USW Local 2-209 Shows Milwaukee They are a Union that Cares

MAN1Each year the Milwaukee Admirals hockey team hosts Military Appreciation Night and offer free attendance to veterans.

On November 7, at the Bradley Center Milwaukee WI., United Steelworker Local 2-209 teamed up with the Milwaukee Admirals to become a corporate sponsor for the event. This year the event was not only open not to veterans but to their families as well.

Part of this sponsorship between the Milwaukee Admirals and Local 2-209 is spread throughout the season. We bring out the Magic Moments Starting Lineup.

MAN2Young skaters are introduced and join the teams starting lineup on the ice. Kids stand proud along with the players for the singing of the National Anthem and are given autographed pucks with our logo on it.

The USW’s newest logo, a Union that works introduces the United Steelworkers Tough as Steel hardest hits video.

Their members decided a long time ago that they would not take a backseat to the company and they decided they wanted to show our community that they are a Union that cares.

The night was a huge success and Local 209 and their members are looking forward to partnering with the Admirals on a yearly basis.

Their community motto is “We are not done yet, we are just getting started.”

This project is just one of so many USW's amazing members do every day to give back to our communities. If you or your local are doing good things in your community, we want to hear about them. Let us know and share video and photos at www.usw.org/uswcares and use the #USWCares hashtag when you post your stories on social media. Don't forget to shout out @Steelworkers!
