August 24, 2020: Union Wins, but Kumho Delays

On August 11, 2020 the Labor Board determined a majority of you voted to join the union. Unfortunately, Kumho is still trying to avoid sitting down with you to negotiate a first contract.

In fact, Kumho has had a legal obligation to bargain with you and the union since September!

In the past year, Kumho management refused multiple opportunities and requests to bargain over issues including changes to your healthcare, holidays and COVID-19 safety procedures.

Now, the company is trying to delay bargaining again with frivolous objections to the election.

The USW did initially file some objections in response to Kumho’s actions during the election campaign, but is now dropping those objections in order to move forward.

It’s likely that Kumho will try everything they can to drag this process out.

You won this union despite Kumho’s efforts to threaten and intimidate you. That’s why we know you won’t let the company stop you now.

Beginning the Bargaining Process

The USW sent your HR manager a letter demanding to begin negotiations, starting with what’s called an “information request”. This standard request includes information about all union-represented employees and your working conditions.

That information is critical in order for you to begin the process of building your Bargaining Committee and identifying your bargaining issues.
