Local Issue Negotiations Take Center Stage

Our negotiations continued both in-person and virtually with ATI this week in Pittsburgh. Our USW negotiating committee met internally and with management.

We are scheduled to discuss local issues over the next several days. While we continue to review the major items, we remain far apart on issues like wages, healthcare, pensions, contracting out, the effects of announced shutdowns and items regarding economic security and employment security.

The company must believe and expect us to bargain against ourselves with a demand for the cost of any wage improvements for USW members to be more than offset by other changes in the contract.

Clearly, we need to send the message to ATI that we are united for a fair contract, as the company has not backed away from its most dangerous economic demands.

If management listens to our committee, reads our proposals and engages with us, the company won't need to send postcards to USW members to solicit questions about our negotiations.

Please stay safe wherever you are, and we'll keep you up to date as bargaining continues.

In unity,
Your USW/ATI Negotiating Committee
