CDC admits COVID can spread via airborne transmission

Eight months after the Covid-19 pandemic hit the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its website to state that the coronavirus can sometimes be spread via airborne transmission.

Enclosed spaces, prolonged exposure to respiratory particles, and inadequate ventilation all increase the risk of airborne transmission, according to the health agency.

OSHA publishes guidance for air purifying respirators

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has published temporary enforcement guidance for enforcing initial and annual fit-testing requirements for Tight-Fitting Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPRs) used during the coronavirus pandemic.

This memo comes as health care workers still report experiencing problems with obtaining proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like masks and gloves. OSHA just last week fined 14 New Jersey hospitals and nursing homes for lack of PPE and other failures.
