Lima, Ohio – The United Steelworkers (USW) today said that the union has made the strategic decision to end its current unfair labor practice strike against Husky Energy and has made an unconditional offer to return to work at the refinery, effective immediately.  The union is now waiting for the company’s response.

The union remains available and ready to continue negotiations with the company to reach mutual agreement on a fair and just successor collective bargaining agreement.

Over 200 members of USW Local 624 started their strike on May 25, 2012, after the company’s unnecessarily combative approach and illegal behavior in negotiations led the union to file unfair labor practice charges against Husky with Region 8 of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) in Cleveland. Those charges are yet pending.

The USW is North America’s largest industrial union, representing 850,000 workers in metals, mining, pulp and paper, rubber, chemicals, glass, auto supply and the energy-producing industries.
