Allan McDougall, program coordinator for the USW’s Emergency Response Team to host weekly-radio-program

Allan McDougall, program coordinator for the USW’s Emergency Response Team (ERT), will soon host a weekly radio program featuring true stories from union members who have triumphed over addiction, mental health issues and post-traumatic stress disorder. If you'd like to share your story of recovery, contact Al at amcdougall@usw.org or (412) 736-3164.

If you are a steelworker member who needs help with addiction or assistance helping someone else with addiction, click here to complete a form so we can get in touch and help connect you with resources.

Empowering Productions, a privately held company in Sparkill, N.Y., will produce the weekly program on the Steppin’ Out radio network and website, www.steppinoutradio.com. Program production will start in late August.

In addition to the website, Steppin’ Out is heard on the Armed Forces Radio Network in 180 countries and on naval ships to over 1 million members of the military and their families.

In addition to managing the ERT program, McDougall facilitates educational programs for the union. He is also the author of “Breaking Through,” a memoir dealing with his alcoholism and recovery.
