International Next Generation Conference

-

We are happy to announce the first-ever International Next Generation Conference will take place November 18-22, 2019, in Pittsburgh, Pa., at The Westin Pittsburgh.

Our goal is to make sure this conference is more unique than any other conference or training. The four-day event will include group sessions, workshops, an entire day dedicated to community service and much more.

We hope this conference will educate and inspire young workers, leading to a lifetime of activism. That’s why we’re strongly encouraging locals to send members who are 35 or younger or new to the union with a lot to learn.

However, whether you’re a new member, a young member or a union veteran, everyone is welcome to participate. Newly-involved members can learn union basics so they can be strong activists when they return to their locals. More experienced activists will have the option to participate in workshops that will focus more on mentoring, a fundamental part of Next Generation.

The future of our union depends on our ability to identify the next generation of leaders who will step up when experienced activists are done. The Next Generation program is a great way to ensure those activists have the knowledge and skills they need to continue the hard work and progress we’ve already made, building a stronger labor movement for generations to come.

We want to make sure the first-ever International Next Generation Conference isn't like every other conference or training. We hope it will give young workers the education they need to understand the function and structure of our union and the skills they need to get involved. But we also want to do things a little outside the box. If you've got ideas for workshops, speakers, panels, actions, projects, etc., please complete our survey!
