You are hereby notified that the Twenty-Second Biennial Conference of the United Steelworkers Press Association (USPA) will be held at the Bally’s Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, June 26 - 28, 2008. The conference will adjourn after the Awards Banquet the evening of Saturday, June 28.

The opening session of the conference is set for 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 26. Registration of delegates and observers will be held Wednesday, June 25 at 6:00 p.m. at the Conference Registration Area of the hotel.

Delegates will review the progress of USPA during the past two years, conduct all regular business of the organization, and project plans for the next two years. Official business will include the election of USPA Executive Board for two-year terms. The Conference program will include training workshops, presentation of awards and a variety of speakers. An information package will be sent to delegates after applications have been received about one month prior to the conference.

The application fee for the Conference is $150 for each participant. The fees must be received at USPA Registrations, Five Gateway Center, Suite 802, Pittsburgh, PA 15222, by June 13, 2008. Late registrations will only be accepted upon approval of the USPA Executive Board and will be charged a $20 late fee based on availability.

The fee covers the cost of communication kits, conference materials, equipment, luncheons and one ticket for the Awards Banquet.  Additional banquet tickets for guests will be available at registration. The local union is responsible for the expenses, accommodations, and transportation of their delegates and observers. To book accommodations use the Request For Hotel Accommodations form. Read the directions carefully.

The United Steelworkers, in cooperation with Gateway Travel Management, has made special arrangements for air transportation to the conference. You may make your airline preferences with Gateway Travel Management by calling 1-877-439-0374.

The conference is open to all USW members but only USPA members are eligible to participate in the election of officers, and to vote on any proposed by law changes or motions placed before the body, with one vote for each publication.  Local unions are welcome to send as many observers as they wish.

Note: We have only blocked 150 rooms for this conference, and urge you to register as soon as possible.
