Michael grew up in Wilmington, DE and graduated from the Tatnall School in 1970. A national merit finalist, he went on to graduate from Stanford University in 1973. He worked for Lenape Forge for 24 years as a machinist. He was also a longtime member of USWA Local #7207, serving as its President for five terms. Michael assisted District 10 in early 1993 on Organizing Campaigns with US Airways in Philadelphia and Little Tykes in Hudson, Ohio along with campaigns at Cressona Aluminum in Pennsylvania and CarTech in Reading, Pennsylvania.

He began his career in Pittsburgh with the United Steelworkers of America as a casual working in the Organizing Department. In 1996, he became was the Steelworkers' Web Master for the Information Systems Department after he designed and implemented the USWA’s first web site. He was a lifelong computer hobbyist and book collector.

He was also one of the very first, if not the first, trade unionists to have a web site.

Welcome Sisters and Brothers The Home Page of Michael Enos, President of Local 7207 United Steelworkers of America, District 10 is dedicated to helping local union members learn more about the World Wide Web. My goal is to create a gathering place of resources for on-line labor activists. The Voice of Labor is mostly silent in CyberSpace. This must change. We are on the edge of the 21st Century, the Twilight of the Industrial Age and the Dawn of the Information Age. Labor must adapt or perish.

In 2002, the United Steelworkers Press Association announced the establishment of the "Michael R. Enos Award” in Recognition of Outstanding Achievement in Web Site Design. The award would be presented to the USPA memberl that excels in their local union Web site development.
