Manufacturing jobs—which built and sustained America’s middle class—are disappearing. The United States has lost more than 2 million manufacturing jobs since April 1998. And unless Congress acts to reform policies that have caused our manufacturing crisis, we’ll lose more good jobs and more American infrastructure.

Revitalizing American Manufacturing
American manufacturing workers are the most productive in the world, but they operate under enormous, competitive disadvantages. Congress has yet to acknowledge the severity of this crisis, much less take the necessary steps to reform the policies that are at its root.

Agenda for a Strong Manufacturing Base
Revitalizing America’s manufacturing base will require improving trade policies and ending incentives for corporations to flee U.S. shores, addressing the nation’s health care crisis and ensuring that workers have the freedom to decide for themselves whether to join a union without employer interference.
