Special Individual Award
Howard J. McCartney Award
The Howard J. McCartney award is presented every two years to a deserving local union editor in the truest sense. It is offered by the United Steelworkers Press Association to encourage and inspire local union editors to pass the union's message down through the ranks.

Every two years at the USPA Biennial Conference, member locals are acknowledged for writing, editing and web site skills through our awards program. Prior to the conference, members submit their newsletters, articles and web site addresses to be judged for this competition. Below are locals who have won awards for these competitions.
Press Association Awards of Excellence
Raymond W. Pasnick Award
The Raymond W. Pasnick Award is highest judged award for the United Steelworkers Press Association. It is presented for editorial excellence by competition category to size of circulation. Local unions submit their publications and these are judged by an accredited person in the field of writing and editing.
Michael R. Enos Award
The United Steelworkers Press Association established the Michael R. Enos Award in 2002. The award is presented to the USPA Local that excels in the development of their local union web site. This award is judged by an accredited person in the computer field.

United Steelworker Departmental Awards
The following United Steelworkers (USW) Departmental Awards are presented to local unions by the so named department. These awards are for the best named story or article for that category. Judges from the departments pick the award winners. In some cases "Merit" awards, under the award name, are presented to locals who ranked high in the judging.
