Nurses Update Public on Negotiations
Press Conference to Discuss Status of Negotiations
For Immediate Release August 3, 2006
(Pittsburgh, Pa) This afternoon at 4:00 p.m., registered nurses represented by the United Steelworkers (USW) in New Brunswick, N.J. will hold a press conference in front of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital to update the public and patients on the bargaining between USW Local 4-200 and the hospital.
Nurses rejected the hospital’s last contract offer Thursday, July 27 by a vote of 765 to 165. Today, the nurses will explain alleged unfair labor practices and discuss the status of negotiations.
The USW Health Care Council represents 35,000 health workers, supporting union-represented health care units in large hospitals, nursing homes and other health care settings. The USW is one of the largest industrial unions in North America and represents over 850,000 members.
