The USW Communications Department conducted the 3rd annual Communication Scholarship Program for editors of local union publications in Pittsburgh from March 19–26, 2006. This training was designed for experienced communicators with computer knowledge.
Objectives of the Scholarship Program
¨ Better writing and editing skills
¨ Improved photographic skills and graphic placement in publications
¨ Improved graphic content, design and layout of local union newsletters
¨ Developing media relations
¨ Developing and disseminating messages
¨ Creating and managing press events
¨ Pitching stories and getting event coverage
