North Central Alabama Women’s Council Plans a Full Days Event
The North Central Alabama Women‘s Council in District 9 is working to have sisters from locals in the North Central region participate in the America’s Walk for Diabetes. This year’s event will be held at Meadow Brook Office Park on Highway 280 East – near building 100 on Saturday, April 8, 2006. Check-in begins at 9:00 am, the walk at 10:00 a.m. Denise H. Burch, Local 2210 Fairfield, Alabama will be serving as Team Captain for the “Women of Steel”-USW-District 9 Team and she is looking for volunteers from each local to serve as captains in their local union.
Fun features of the Walk include: a scenic walk, (led by the unforgettable Pineapple Skinners), breakfast & lunch for all walkers, children’s carnival featuring a moonwalk, clowns, games and face painting, music by “Bobby T”, “Strut your Mutt” contest, rest stops with fruit and beverages, first aid and restroom facilities and the Fitness and Wellness Festival. Dozens of health experts and providers of diabetes care products and service present their latest technology and treatments.
