 Lewis Peacock

Vice President
(Organizing)

Vice President of Organizing Lewis Peacock joined the Pulp, Sulphite Workers in 1959 when he began work at St. Regis Paper Co. in  Cantonment, Fla. In 1964, he transferred to a new mill in Monticello, Miss., to assist with the start-up of the operation. He also worked in a start-up for Owens-Illinois in Orange, Texas, in 1967.

 

Peacock was a key leader in organizing the Monticello and Orange mills, and served as a local union officer at all three locations. He joined the staff of the Pulp, Sulphite Workers in 1968, and was elected Vice President of the United Paperworkers International Union in 1996.

 

Peacock became Vice President of Organizing for PACE when that position was created at the 2003 Convention of the Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical and Energy Workers International Union. He has served as USW Vice President (Organizing) since the merger of PACE and the USWA in 2005.
