- November 04, 2009 Rally at Georgia Pacific Union members at the Georgia Pacific Gypsum plant in Wheatfield, Indiana fought a long and hard battle and finally ratified a labor contract last spring. Shortly before the ratification vote, a decertification petition was filed with the National Labor Relations Board by a small group which has opposed union representation from the very start.
- October 29, 2009 Demonstration at Federal Mogul On October 28, 2009, Steelworkers, SOAR members and members of USW Local 4863 rallied together to show solidarity against the renegade company of Federal Mogul as it attempts to force a concessionary contract on active and retired Steelworkers.
- October 15, 2009 SOAR Raises Its First Flag in District 13 The first Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees (SOAR) Chapter in District 13 held its first official meeting and received its charter on Tuesday, October 13. Retirees from several locals in the Corpus Christi area joined together to form SOAR Chapter 13-1. More than 30 retirees attended this first meeting.
