• December 19, 2011  | USW USW Successfully Concludes Key Industry Negotiations with Master Agreement Covering 43 IP Converter Plants After two weeks of voting, the United Steelworkers (USW) today said that its members have ratified a four-year master economic and security agreement with International Paper (IP) that covers about 5,700 workers at 43 of the company's converter plants where they make corrugated boxes and containers.

• May 18, 2011 USW Lauds International Paper’s Decision to Reopen Franklin, Virginia Mill United Steelworkers Union (USW) officials praised International Paper’s (IP) decision to implement a project that could lead to the redevelopment of the Franklin, Va., mill. The union has worked with the company since the closure with the hope of developing other options for the site.
• April 04, 2011  | USW USW Locals Reach Tentative Agreement With International Paper The United Steelworkers (USW) announced today that it has reached a tentative, four-year master agreement with International Paper (IP) after a week of negotiations over key economic issues. The agreement was reached after nearly a year of planning and strategic meetings culminating with the 80 person bargaining committee representing 15 sites meeting in New Orleans in face-to-face discussions.
• October 26, 2010  | USW NLRB Certifies Steelworkers at Smurfit’s Stevenson Paper Mill The United Steelworkers (USW) today said that the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has certified the results of the union’s organizing victory at the Stevenson paper mill currently owned by Smurfit Stone Container Corporation.
• October 22, 2010  | USW U.S. Trade Commission Orders Duties on Coated Paper Imports The United Steelworkers (USW) swiftly reacted to today’s affirmative ruling that will apply duties to subsidized and dumped coated paper imports from China and Indonesia, calling the 6-0 vote by the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) a “strong confirmation” of the injuries suffered by American paper makers and workers.
