Regional Elite management wants its employees to believe that forming a union is a personal attack on them as management. It isn’t! Forming a union and securing a union contract just makes good business sense. Regional Elite has contracts with its customers and suppliers, and wouldn't do business any other way. So why shouldn’t the employees form a USW Union? Because Regional Elite knows it makes "Good Business Sense"!
During the last few months management in their meetings, emails and letters has made their position clear. They don’t want the employees to have any real say in their wages, benefits and working conditions. Most employers don’t.
Not having a voice and vote over important decisions that affect you and your family is risky. Not having USW representation and workplace democracy is even riskier.
The USW has democratically represented working people for over 120 years. That’s a long time, and certainly a lot longer than Regional Elite has been in business. The real risk is not having a legal contract which protects your wages, benefits and working conditions and leaving all the decisions up to Regional Elite management.
Presently, Regional Elite employees have little if no say in any of the decisions concerning your wages, benefits, or working conditions. In fact, what you end up doing is begging for any improvements.
Having a union is about having the power and leverage to address workplace issues and getting results. Right now Regional Elite management has all the power! As an at-will-employee you have no power. Regional Elite wants to keep all the power so its employees don't have a voice or vote in decisions, like keeping health care premiums low or and increasing workplace safety.
Once organized you will elect your own bargaining committee to sit down along with the support of USW staff and negotiate a fair contract and reasonable contract. Just like the contracts for the 850,000 USW members throughout the United States and Canada.
Now unions won't eliminate all your problems, but it will give Regional Elite employees the legal rights and protections to address important issues and concerns that you have, and the power to resolve them and move forward with make a quality product for Regional Elite.
