USW Expresses Solidarity with People of France

Contact: Ben Davis:  202-550-3729, bdavis@usw.org

(Pittsburgh) --The United Steelworkers (USW) joins the rest of the global trade union movement in expressing our grief at the senseless killings in Paris and our solidarity with the French people.

The attacks by the so-called Islamic State are an affront to the true values of Islam and of humanity.  The trade union movement and all defenders of humanity and democracy must respond by asserting even more forcefully the rights of refugees and other victims of violence and inequality.

The USW represents 850,000 workers in North America employed in many industries that include metals, rubber, chemicals, paper, oil refining and the service and public sectors.  For more information: http://www.usw.org.
