Warren, Ohio – The United Steelworkers (USW) today said that on Wed., April 1, rank-and-file union members and their elected leaders will join Rep. Tim Ryan and Ohio State Senators Capri Cafaro, Joe Schiavoni and Lou Gentile for a news conference at USW Local 1375 to discuss a resolution the two plan to bring before the Ohio legislature urging members of Ohio’s delegation to the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives to vote against Trade Promotion Authority, commonly known as “Fast Track.”

Under previous Fast Track trade agreements, more than 63 thousand manufacturing facilities and over 7 million family-supporting, community-sustaining jobs have vanished while the U.S. has accumulated huge trade deficits with major foreign economies around the globe.

The USW represents 850,000 men and women employed in metals, mining, pulp and paper, rubber, chemicals, glass, auto supply and the energy-producing industries, along with a growing number of workers in public sector and service occupations.
