On October 18, 2016, there was a Stop TPP Rally in Gary, Indiana, before the Gary Common Council to lobby the Council to support a resolution against TPP and other bad trade agreements. The USW District 7, Sub-District #5 Director, Alexander Jacque was there for District 7, Billy McCall, President of USW Local #1066 led a delegation from his Local, Charles Switzer, Griever from USW Local #1010 led a delegation from his Local and Matt Paskash led a delegation from Hoosiers for Progress.
At the Rally we marched in front of Gary City Hall with Stop TPP Signs and passed out Stop TPP Flyers to the public and passing cars. We went to the Gary Common Council Meeting to lobby the Council to sponsor a Resolution Opposing TPP and other bad trade agreements. It is important that we keep this lobby effort going forward in every Town & City in America to keep Congress from passing TPP, that would be devastating to our economy and jobs in the future. We all know the job losses we are suffering from NAFTA for the last 20 years and “TPP is NAFTA on Steroids”!
We cannot accept “Illegal Trade” or “Bad Trade Agreements”! We must demand “Fair Trade Agreements” from Congress and enforcement of our trade laws!
