Fallen Workers Honored at Alcoa

USW Local 309 holds a moment of silence on behalf of Workers Memorial Day

Coming home after a hard day’s work is often taken for granted. While we make every effort to ensure our members are protected on the job, sadly, some never return home to the ones they love.

USW Local 309 in Alcoa, Tennessee held their annual Worker’s Memorial Day observance and luncheon, hosted by LU 309 Women of Steel, on Friday, April 29, 2016. Worker’s Memorial Day is part of Local 309’s Collective Bargaining Agreement as a time set aside to honor and remember their fallen co-workers.

Thousands of working men and women lose their lives on the job every year. We will never stop fighting for safer work environments, to ensure that all union members return to their loved ones at the end of their work day!
