We Support Our Stillwater Miners

The sign says it all as “Wives of Stillwater Miners” hold information pickets in front of company offices downtown in Columbus, MO. The 900 United Steelworker miners of Local 11-1 have been in negotiations since March. Their contract with Stillwater’s Nye mine and Columbus processing facility expires at the end of May.

The wives said the sign waving is bringing a lot of attention and community support from passing motorists honking horns and passerby’s walking by is growing.

Union members are upset that the company has proposed a pay cut as the company announced a $23 million profit for the first quarter of 2015 and a substantial salary raise was received by CEO Mick McMullen in 2014.
