As our contract negotiations in Pittsburgh continue to proceed slowly, Steelworkers at ArcelorMittal and U.S. Steel are gearing up for a busy week of events.
Most ArcelorMittal locations are planning rallies on Wednesday, Aug. 19th, though actions will continue through the rest of the week in conjunction with a series of events targeting U.S. Steel.
Please plan ahead to participate in the event scheduled for your local next week and help us fight ArcelorMittal management’s unfair and unnecessary demands.
While management persists in its proposals to drive down our compensation and force USW members to pay significantly more for active and retired health benefits that are unlikely to provide the coverage of our current plans, it’s vitally important to show the company that we remain united.
At the table, we are absolutely committed to continue to struggle for the fairness and dignity we have earned through generations of hard work and sacrifice. Our committee continues to meet both internally and with management as the process continues.
In the coming days, we will be providing a leaflet that features a Q & A about contract expiration and will do our best to answer new questions as they arise.
Our true strength lies in the solidarity of our membership, and we urge everyone at all locations to stay in contact with their CAT representatives and to share information, questions and concerns when they arise.
