(October 5) – The USW’s U.S. Steel bargaining committee continued to meet regularly among ourselves and with the company’s representatives during the past week in Pittsburgh.

Our meetings have touched on a number of unresolved issues on which we still have significant differences with the company, including contracting out, health care benefits
for both active and retired members, as well as safety and health.

While we have made slow but steady progress on these issues, we believe there is still much work to be done to reach an agreement that is fair to both sides. We look forward to continuing these discussions in the coming week, and we will keep all of our brothers and sisters up to date on the latest developments at the table.

We know many of our fellow USW members are concerned and frustrated by the pace of these negotiations. We share your feelings, but at the same time, we are committed to continuing to bargain for as long as it takes to reach a fair agreement.

The keys to our success will be solidarity and communication. With that in mind, please continue to keep the lines of communication open in our local plants and in our local union halls. Stay in touch with your CAT coordinator for the latest information about bargaining and upcoming mobilization activities. Stay connected, stay strong and keep working safely!

In Solidarity,

Your 2015 U.S. Steel Bargaining Committee
