Negotiations with ArcelorMittal management for a new labor agreement continued this week in Pittsburgh. Our committee is pleased to report that in the past few days we have reached a basic understanding with the company on some non-economic issues.

Although the pace of bargaining remains extremely slow, we are absolutely committed to reaching a fair agreement that meets the needs of USW members, retirees, our families and communities without compromising the security of our jobs, earnings or benefits.

We sincerely appreciate the overwhelming support our committee has received from Steelworkers at all locations throughout this long and difficult process. It is clear that we must also keep the heat on all levels of management while we continue to work under the terms and conditions of our current agreement.

We urge everyone to stay engaged with their CAT representatives, attend union meetings, sign up for text and email updates and participate in events and activities organized locally.

As always, we also want to remind everyone to focus on operating our facilities safely while this process continues.

Our unity and solidarity have made a huge difference in fighting off the company’s demands so far, and we remain confident that our goals are within reach as long as we stand together.
