Since the beginning of negotiations, the USW has been in regular communications with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS), the agency of the Federal Government that handles the mediation of labor disputes and contract negotiations.

Last week, USW leadership spoke again with representatives from the FMCS. The USW is now scheduled to meet with ATI at the FMCS offices in Pittsburgh on September 11 and 12.

The USW has asked ATI whether they have modified their Last, Best and Final offer but we have not received a straight answer from the company on that question. We sincerely hope that ATI comes to the bargaining table prepared to enter into meaningful bargaining aimed at resolving the ongoing lockout.

The USW believes that ATI’s lockout is unlawful and we are actively pursuing all legal remedies that are available to us. But in the meantime we have decided to meet again with ATI in an attempt to reason with the company and encourage them to step back from the destructive path they have chosen and bargain a fair agreement with the union.

Stay strong, stay safe and watch for additional updates as this process unfolds.
