Locked out Honeywell members deliver petitions to Company Board of Directors

Members of USW Local 7-669 in Metropolis, IL, locked out by Honeywell  since August 1, 2014 just completed a call to action by making unannounced visits to each Honeywell Board of Director throughout the United States.  At each location, the locked out workers asked to meet and deliver thousands of petitions calling on the board to bring an end to the lockout.

Local 7-669 spokesperson Luckie Atkinson travelled cross country in an effort to bring an end to the lockout. The four Honeywell Board of Directors contacted were in St. Louis, Missouri; Detroit, Michigan; Foster City, California and Atlanta, Georgia.

Atkinson’s last stop was in Atlanta, GA where members of USW District 9’s Local 9-1755 gathered at the Atlanta United Parcel Services (UPS) office where Honeywell Board of Directors Chairman D. Scott Davis is located.  Despite being barred from entering company offices, District 9 Local 9-1755 members Randolph Pittman and Earl Ellis assisted in delivering 3,500 petitions to company security.  News of the USW’s efforts preceded their arrival in Atlanta as security detail asked members if they were with the Steelworkers and how negotiations were going.  Through the solidarity and activism such as District 9’s efforts to support their locked out brothers and sisters, Local 7-669’s message to end the lock out is being delivered to the Honeywell Board.
