Steelworkers demand that Congressman Richmond stand up for the workers in Louisiana’s 2nd District

On Thursday May 7, Steelworkers from several Locals in the New Orleans area (including Locals 620,750, 5702 and 13-447), met with Congressman Cedric Richmond’s staff on our Unions opposition to Fast Track (TPA). They were joined by representatives of the IBEW, Sheet Metal Workers, Teamsters, other constituency groups, and USW staff.

D13 outsideThey delivered letters and petitions from over 200 Steelworkers demanding that Congressman Richmond stand up for the workers in Louisiana’s 2nd District by voting against job killing legislation such as Fast Track and TPP.

Assistant to the Director John Link stated that, “It was very humbling to join with these Steelworkers today in sending a message, not only to Congressman Richmond, but all of Congress, that enough is enough. Stop sending our family supporting jobs overseas with these bad trade deals.”

These same Steelworker Locals had already delivered dozens of letters in the last several weeks to the Congressman.
