United Steelworkers District 1 Women of Steel Scholarship Committee met Thursday, June 18, 2015, to select the 2015 scholarship recipients. Forty-eight applications were reviewed by the Committee before they randomly selected winners from the eligible applicants.
The winners of the two $2,000 Academic Scholarships are: Jacob Leach, son of Robert Leach, a member of Local 979, Cleveland, OH; and Jordan Pendleton, son of Allen Pendleton, a member of Local 731, Chillicothe, OH.
There were no applications submitted for the Technical Institute Scholarship.
The Committee awarded an Essay Scholarship to Thomas Eslich, son of Patrick Eslich, a member of Local 1123, Canton, OH.
The Committee members are Karen Halladay, Vickie Stage, Louise Zimmerman and Teresa Hartley.
