USW Cares: Local 9231 Raises Funds for the New Carlisle Community Food Pantry

presentationSubmitted by Kim Rutkowski

During the month of November, United Steelworkers Local 9231 sold union t-shirts which were donated to the New Carlisle Community Food Pantry. The pantry serves between 25-40 families every week of the year. This number is staggering considering New Carlisle is a very small community.

The first picture features Women of Steel Chairwoman Libbi Urban presenting Food Pantry Administrator Aleta Mauer, a gift of $2025 on November 25. The second picture shows Local 9231 Union President Todd Kegley, holding the shirt for sale.

This project is just one of so many USW's amazing members do every day to give back to our communities. If you or your local are doing good things in your community, we want to hear about them. Let us know and share video and photos at www.usw.org/uswcares and use the #USWCares hashtag when you post your stories on social media. Don't forget to shout out @Steelworkers!
