Steelworkers Keep Up the Infrastructure Investment Push

America needs work. Roads and bridges are crumbling, the electrical grid is outdated and our water and other vital systems are at risk. America’s manufacturing and construction workers are ready to get to work on these kinds of critical infrastructure projects. When we make these investments in our nation, it makes our communities safer, increases our ability to compete globally, improves our national security and creates good jobs. If we ensure that we are Buying American through the use of domestically-manufactured components, we create and support even more jobs while building stronger communities. Using innovative financing approaches, such as a self-sustaining national infrastructure bank, will spark the public and private capital that is needed to advance these goals.

Steelworkers have been taking this message to federal lawmakers throughout 2014, beginning at the Rapid Response and Legislative Conference in February. When Steelworkers went to Capitol Hill and lobbied, it marked the start of delivering tens of thousands of postcards supporting investment in America. Those efforts have continued in Congressional Districts as well:
