Members of United Steelworkers Local 9176 recently met with Today In Philly Labor talk show host and President of the Philadelphia AFL-CIO Council Pat Eiding to discuss their upcoming Solidarity Rally on Thursday, December 4 to protest at Crown Holdings headquarters in Philadelphia.
Road Warriors, Rob DePippo and Steve McHugh talked about the 120 workers from Toronto, members of United Steelworkers Local 9176, who were forced on strike by Crown Holdings, on September 6, 2013. Joining them and helping to coordinate the event was Lindsay Patterson from USW Local 404.
The members helped out the company when they were struggling. Crown named them as one of the top producers in North America when they presented the local with the 2012 “Plant of the Year Award” for outstanding “safety, productivity and budget management.”
But, the company’s $557 million in profits in 2012 was not meant to be shared with the workers.
