Speak Out to Keep Taxes From Going Up on the Middle Class

If Congress fails to act before the end of the year, every American family’s taxes will automatically go up. A typical middle-class family of four would see its taxes rise by $2,200 starting in 2013.

President Barack Obama Wednesday urged the American people to call, email, and tweet with the "#my2K hashtag" at their members of Congress to encourage them to pass an extension of the Bush Tax Cuts for those making less than $250,000.

"It's too important for Washington to screw this up," Obama said, warning that the economy will "go South" if lawmakers don't act by the end of the year.
