United Steelworkers (USW) from Local 624 received support from brothers and sisters in Canada in bringing international attention to the unfair labor practice strike being waged by Husky Energy. Since May 25, Husky Lima Refining in Lima, OH, has used a combative approach to undermine the wages and standards for the oil workers.

A delegation of Steelworkers met with members from USW Local 1-424 in Prince George, BC to leaflet in front of the Husky refinery. Later that evening, the members attended a solidarity dinner with members from the Communications, Energy and and Paperworkers Union (CEP) Local 1997.

Then it was on to Lloydminster, AB, where the group handed out leafletsin front of a husky station, in front of the Husky office bldg. and at the Husky presentation at the Lloydminster Oil Show.

Workers want to return to their jobs, but not at the expense of their families and their dignity, and not under the terms of a one-sided labor agreement.

You can show your support with the workers in Lima by signing the on-line petition telling Husky to bargain a fair and equitable contract that respects all workers.
