• May 14, 2013 Local 3657 Steelworker Awarded Catherine Baker Knoll Award On May 9, the Allegheny County Democratic Committee (ACDC) presented United Steelworker (USW) Steffi Domike the Catherine Baker Knoll Award at the Committee's Jackson-Jefferson Dinner in Pittsburgh, PA. Domike, a technician in the Education and Membership Development department of the USW headquarters and a member of USW Local 3657, spends endless hours assisting workers in Pennsylvania.
• April 16, 2013 USW Study Warns Public about Dangers of Hydrofluoric Acid Use in Refinery Alkylation Process to Produce Clean-Burning Gasoline A United Steelworkers (USW) study released today-"A Risk Too Great, Hydrofluoric Acid in U.S. Refineries"-warns that refiners that use hydrofluoric acid (HF) in their alkylation process to make clean-burning gasoline do not have adequate safety systems in place and are not prepared to handle a release.

• August 30, 2012 Applying For a Birth Certificate For Voter ID in Pennsylvania The Department of Health is now issuing Birth Certificates for free if the reason a voter needs one is to get an ID that will be acceptable for voting. The Department is also giving refunds to voters who have already obtained their Birth Certificates and paid the $10 fee.
