We Pull Together: Rosie the Riveters, Then and Now
District 8 Women of Steel Coordinator Karen Shipley had the opportunity to attend the May 22, 2013 event at the Pullman Plaza Hotel to honor Rosie the Riveters. The event was sponsored by the organization called "Thanks! Plain and Simple," whose purpose is to seek, identify, honor and preserve the life lessons and memories of West Virginia Rosie the Riveters.

USW Vows to Continue Fight to Save Jobs at Paducah Plant
The United Steelworkers (USW) union on Monday said that it would continue to fight the decision by the Department of Energy (DOE) to cease uranium enrichment at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant after workers received notices that layoffs would begin in August.

Kids are going to 4-H Camp due to the efforts of "Women of Steel" throughout the state of West Virginia. The Women of Steel program was created over 20 years ago and its purpose is to motivate and educate women within the United Steelworkers (USW) to become more active in their Union.

USW Blasts DOE’s Decision to Not Extend Uranium Enrichment Agreement at Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant
The United Steelworkers (USW) today blasted the decision by the Department of Energy (DOE) not to approve a proposed agreement among Exelon, Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), U.S. Enrichment Corporation, Inc. (USEC) and Ameren that would have extended for eight months the enrichment of DOE's stockpile of depleted uranium tails at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant.

The U.S. Enrichment Corp. may start shutting down the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion plant Friday afternoon May 24, 2013 if the Dept. of Energy does not approve an extension of the uranium tails enrichment program. You can prevent this from happening by calling and/or emailing the DOE
