The undervalued yuan, also called renminbi, artificially depresses the cost of Chinese products and falsely increases the price of American goods. The resulting lopsided trade has closed American factories and cost American jobs.

Maria Alvarez, the New Jersey Council Chair hosted the meeting and District 4 Co-Coordinator Tammie Botelho assisted Maria with the meeting.
- April 14, 2010 Smurfit Stone in North Tonawanda, NY Join Steelworkers On Friday, April 9, the workers at Smurfit Stone Container in North Tonawanda, NY voted 71 to 31 fro Union representations by the United Steelworkers. The victory brings the number of USW workers at Smurfit Stone to 5,600 nationwide.
- April 12, 2010 Steelworker Travels to El Salvador with Power in Community Alliances (PICA) This February I had the opportunity to travel to El Salvador with Power in Community Alliances (PICA), of Bangor Maine. PICA has a sister city relation with the village of Carasque, located in the mountains. They have worked with the community on rebuilding and community organizing necessary after their civil war.
