Election 2016: Members Speak Out

Charles Perko
Local 3267

Charles Perko, 32, of Pueblo Colo., works at EVRAZ Rocky Mountain Steel and has been a member of USW Local 3267 for five years. He is a Guide and Rapid Response coordinator for the local.

“If the wrong person is elected president, we will backtrack on the labor movement gains we have made in the past eight years.

“Republicans could literally convince people to cut their own hands off if it would make big business more money. I don’t understand it.

“I will be fighting to elect Hillary Clinton because I know she is going to fight for the labor movement. She will surround herself with the right people. She may even keep the same labor secretary, Thomas Perez, in place, and he is great. She will not back track on any of the gains we have made. And if she has the support of Congress, I hope she will try reverse the damage done by the Taft-Hartley Act and get us card check for union organizing.”
