Election 2016: Members Speak Out

John Nave
Local 307

John Nave, 58, of Topeka, Kan., is a steward with Local 307 at a Goodyear’s plant in Topeka, where large off-road tires are manufactured. Nave is chairman of the local’s COPE committee and a married father of six children.

“This election is important to me because I am looking at my future.

“If we elect Hillary Clinton, we know her history, her record. She has been an advocate for working families and underprivileged children from day one. More importantly, she is a supporter of unions and labor and has never turned her back on Steelworkers.

“With her experience as Secretary of State, as a U.S. Senator for eight years and as the wife of an ex-president, she has the experience. She is the best candidate at this time.

“Donald Trump has no experience. To me, he is not the best candidate. In my personal opinion, he has a record of deception, greed and self-satisfaction.

“As a union worker, I feel Hillary will support unions and labor. She will make sure Americans come first in economic trade. She will support the middle class that is needed all across this country.

“She will make sure that we keep our jobs, keep our benefits and not let big corporations take jobs out of the country.”

“We’ve got a lot of work to do. We’ve got to knock on many doors, talk to many of our brothers and sisters, educate them on the facts and hope that they listen.”
