- May 16, 2013 Local 3657 Steelworker Awarded Catherine Baker Knoll Award On May 9, the Allegheny County Democratic Committee (ACDC) presented United Steelworker (USW) Steffi Domike the Catherine Baker Knoll Award at the Committee’s Jackson-Jefferson Dinner in Pittsburgh, PA.
- May 03, 2013 WOS Local 3657 Purse Donation Drive I hope all is well with you all and that you are enjoying this beautiful Spring weather. I have attached a picture of some of the purses which you so graciously donated to the WOS Local 3657 Purse Drive. As you can see the response was overwhelming. We are still in the process of sorting, packing and repacking for distribution.
- March 25, 2013 Women of Steel Display the USW Colors at Pioneer Days Pioneer Days is an annual event in Kearny, AZ. The four day event is filled activities such as a carnival, a men's softball tournament, the Pioneer Queen contest, music, food and information booths, plus many more vendors and events. And what would an event be without a parade.

- October 22, 2012 Women of Steel at USW Local 608 Remind Us of Breast Cancer Awareness Month Women of Steel at United Steelworker (USW) Local 608 remind everyone that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same.
- October 17, 2012 USW Local 608 Cooked Up a Meet and Eat The Women of Steel (WOS) in Lewiston, ID, decided that they wanted United Steelworker (USW) members at Local 608 to have their cake and "MEET" it too. So recently, to open a door for people to meet the local union leadership and to encourage members to attend a meeting, they sponsored a barbeque for LU 608 members.

Again On August 20, Woman of Steel (WOS) from United Steelworker Local 7600 visited Tamarind Elementary in the City of Fontana and donated 33 stuffed backpacks to the school. This is just one more successful event for Local 7600 WOS who are always active in their community.

Although the women were tightly controlled both in the factories and at home in company-supervised boarding houses, many managed to join organized demonstrations against their working conditions.
- March 08, 2012 Modern History Sourcebook: Harriet Robinson: Lowell Mill Girls In her autobiography, Harriet Hanson Robinson, the wife of a newspaper editor, provided an account of her earlier life as female factory worker (from the age of ten in 1834 to 1848) in the textile Mills of Lowell, Massachusetts. Her account explains some of the family dynamics involved, and lets us see the women as active participants in their own lives - for instance in their strike of 1836.

Their goal was to write letters to Congressional representatives and urge them not to support or vote for the pending Columbia or Korea Free Trade agreements.
- July 05, 2011 Famous Union Figure Makes an Appearance in Pittsburgh The 4th of July is traditionally known for picnics, fireworks and beaches. In Pittsburgh, the scene was no different except for the beach which turned out to be a 15 foot sand sculpture. A team of Florida-based artists, Sandsational Sand Sculpting, added a bit of union history to this year’s sculpture – Rosie the Riveter.
